This Mexican American Studies program from University of Arizona addresses such topics as historical memory, indigeneity, the effect of generations of living in the US on traditional practices and values, school achievement patterns, access to health and other social systems, political and personal identity, gender roles, economic attainment, and others.
Because of the multidisciplinary nature of Mexican American Studies, courses will expose students to research and experiences that represent a variety of perspectives, including adolescent development and public health, political science, traditional medicine, education, border studies and migration, history and historiography, community development and advocacy, and literature.
