Animal Sciences – Race Track Industry Emphasis degree at University of Arizona is the first and only program of its kind in the country. RTIP is dedicated to preparing students for careers in the professional racing industry. Students can select their coursework to focus on business or animal management.
Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate an understanding of the relationships involved in the conduct of racing and wagering both internally and externally to the track.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the legal framework that controls the conduct of racing and pari-mutuel wagering in the United States.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the operation and management of the racing department by creating a complete racing program.
- Evaluate race track administration and management decisions and using financial, budgeting and accounting analysis.
- Prepare effective oral and written communications to both racing and non-racing audiences.
- Utilize problem solving and critical thinking skills to complete and present a research project centered around racing-related issues.
