The M.A. Language, Reading and Culture program at University of Arizona focuses on the theory, research and practice in language, reading, writing and culture. Courses to satisfy the Arizona Department of Education SEI, Bilingual, and ESL Endorsements are included.

The Language, Reading and Culture program at University of Arizona provides students with a foundational understanding of the concepts, methods, and theories related to language, reading, and culture.

Emphasis is placed on developing abilities and competencies that lead to improvements in teaching and learning processes within the classroom. The program focuses on language and literacy theory, research, and practice. A specially designed sequence of required courses is available to acquire a K-12 Reading Endorsement for the state of Arizona, preparing teachers to be reading specialists or Chapter I teachers.

The Language, Reading & Culture, M.A., program prepares you for a variety of professional and academic roles. Depending on what, if any, endorsement you choose to pursue, you may graduate endorsed as a reading specialist or Chapter I teacher.
